Music of the Week | Cliff Richard

Cold and mystical.

This week’s music comes from the evergreen bachelor boy Cliff Richard. His 1976 single hit Devil Woman, a story about a gypsy fortune teller who curses a man with a jinx and his encounter with an unlucky cat (the psychic medium). The song contains heavy guitar distortion and a tremolo to fade in the mystical effect, sounds which Cliff Richard was no known to experiment with.

The famous lines go like this:

She’s just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She’s gonna get you
She’s just a devil woman
With evil on her mind
Beware the devil woman
She’s gonna get you from behind
